Disciplinary Officers for Academic Teachers

Pursuant to Article 277(1) of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571), I hereby decide as follows:

I appoint the following employees of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University as Disciplinary Officers for Academic Teachers for the 2025–2028 term of office:

  • prof. dr hab. Iwona Niżnik-Dobosz;
  • dr hab. Grzegorz Kuca, prof. UJ;
  • dr hab. Izabela Lewandowska-Malec, prof. UJ;
  • dr hab. Mikołaj Małecki;
  • dr hab. Ewa Skorczyńska;
  • dr hab. Szymon Tarapata.

The term of office of the Disciplinary Officers is four years and commenced on 1 January 2025.

A Disciplinary Officer is bound by the instructions of the authority that appointed them with regard to the initiation of proceedings in a case. Such instructions may not concern actions undertaken by the Disciplinary Officer in the course of proceedings.

Pursuant to Article 275(1) and (2) of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science:

  1. An academic teacher is subject to disciplinary liability for a disciplinary offence consisting in an act that constitutes a breach of the duties of an academic teacher or undermines the dignity of the academic profession.
  2. Termination of employment at a higher education institution does not exclude disciplinary liability for a disciplinary offence committed during the period of employment.

Written information concerning an act that may constitute a disciplinary offence should be submitted to the JU Vice-Rector for Human Resources and Financial Management.

University Disciplinary Committee for Academic Teachers

Disciplinary cases are adjudicated by university disciplinary committees.

Pursuant to § 188 of the Statute of the Jagiellonian University, the Committee may consist of no more than 25 members. Members of the Committee are elected by the Senate. Candidates for membership of the Committee are nominated by the councils of the relevant University units and by the University student self-government body.

The following persons may not serve as members of the Committee: the Rector, a Vice-Rector, a Dean, a Vice-Dean, a Director or Deputy Director of an Institute, or the Head of a non-faculty, interfaculty or joint unit. Serving as a member of the Committee is an obligation of an academic teacher. The Committee’s term of office is four years.

The members of the University Disciplinary Committee for Academic Teachers and their substitute members for the 2024–2028 term of office were elected by Senate Resolution No. 85/X/2024 of 30 October 2024. They are:
